The Tax Free. Period. campaign launched in June of 2019 based on a revolutionary argument: Since the tampon tax only applies to people who menstruate, it is not just unfair, it's also a form of sex-based discrimination — and therefore unconstitutional and illegal. We have mobilized pro bono attorneys and law students from around the country to help us challenge the tampon tax in court.

The COVID-19 global pandemic has emboldened the menstrual equity movement, and reminded states around the US of what we already know — that period products are essentials that should be available for all who need them and, at a minimum, sales tax-free.
